Refinishing a piece of furniture can be an extremely messy and unpleasant process. Sometimes, you just know that there is beauty waiting below the surface of that old flea market find, but the hassle of uncovering that beauty can seem daunting. But, it need not be. If you know which solvent to use for testing and stripping wood, then you can significantly reduce your labor time and effort. So, today I wanted to go over how to figure out which type of finish you have, and what process works the quickest at removing it.

Ladder Shelf Makeover
About eight years ago, I built my first ladder shelf. For 3 years, it lived in my master bathroom and served as some much needed storage space. Then five years ago, we moved into our new home, and my ladder shelf was exiled to the attic. There it sat, still in its deconstructed state, just waiting for the day that I would get around to giving it a much needed makeover. So, that’s just what I decided to do – a ladder shelf makeover.
Getting a Professional Interior Paint Finish
I have reached that point where I am sick of looking at the paint colors on my wall. Of course, that happens to me about every 5 years. As a result, I have begun to change the paint color in several parts of my home, starting with my studio. Since I started repainting, I thought this would be a good time to share my tips and tricks for getting a professional interior paint finish.
How to Refinish Wooden Doors
If you have stained, wooden exterior doors, you know that they can be quite beautiful. You probably also know that they can start to look a bit run down after just a few years of rain, snow, sleet, hail and sun. Keeping them looking fresh takes a bit of maintenance. However, sometimes you just don’t know how important regular maintenance is until your doors are in need of a complete overhaul. I am ashamed to say that I neglected my own doors for the past few years and was faced with this same situation. But, not to worry, I was able to get them looking like new with just a little bit of time and effort. If you want to know how to refinish wooden doors, just keep reading.
Avoid These Paint Colors When Selling Your Home
A few weeks ago, I posted an article on which paint colors would increase your home’s sale price (at least for 2017). However, several of you were very interested in knowing which colors should be avoided – i.e the worst paint choices. Well, I prefer to only write positive articles. So, it took a little bit of considering, but I did finally decide to go forward with writing this up. Just keep in mind, as you read this, that this is purely a statistical analysis. It is, by no means, intended to suggest that these colors are ugly.
Color is very subjective, and in the right design, any color can be beautiful. However, we must start somewhere. Therefore, I would say that you should avoid these paint colors when selling your home.
